Pagan May

Calling witches, wizards, king lizards, and all you heathens—it’s our 3rd annual Pagan May! Will this be the final one? Perhaps…

People have loved coming out to celebrate the spring with films that tap into the ancient traditions and contrasts of monotheistic religions, brushing up against the so-called “Satanic” aspects of Western culture. Bunch of filthy atheists, the lot of you! So grab your crystals and tarot cards, and come out to this series of films that will get you excommunicated.

Special thanks to Zeke Aszman for the poster.

Mystic Chords of Memory

Exploring how the Welsh people experience and maintain connections to their shared past and culture through narratives about place, this documentary features people across Cymru (Wales, U.K) sharing stories about the places and lands that hold significance for them.

Häxan

Grave robbing, torture, possessed nuns, and a satanic Sabbath: Benjamin Christensen’s legendary film uses a series of dramatic vignettes to explore the scientific hypothesis that the witches of the Middle Ages suffered the same hysteria as turn-of-the-twentieth-century psychiatric patients.

Midsommar

A couple travels to Northern Europe to visit a rural hometown's fabled Swedish mid-summer festival. What begins as an idyllic retreat quickly devolves into an increasingly violent and bizarre competition at the hands of a pagan cult.
