Waking Up From A Nap On A Long Day Of Doing Nothing

Thursday, May 7 @ 7:30 PM 9:00 PM

$13

Join us for a First Thursday unlike any other at the world premiere of WAKING UP FROM A NAP ON A LONG DAY OF DOING NOTHING, the new short film by Thom Hilton (writer/director of Matinee Baby and co-host of The Rocky Horror Picture Show at the Clinton Street Theater).

With the guidance of his best friend and mystical grandfather, a young painter – anxiously awaiting his first gallery show – embarks on a surreal skateboard odyssey through Portland to discover the true value of his art.

Introducing Ben Siver and starring Katie Kell (My Friend, Chevy) and Anthony Hudson (the artist FKA Carla Rossi), the film features nearly thirty characters in more than a dozen iconic Portland locations, plus surprise celebrity voice cameos and a posthumous performance by Hilton’s grandfather Jim Browning.

From an award-winning screenplay, WAKING UP FROM A NAP ON A LONG DAY OF DOING NOTHING was partially filmed at the Clinton Street Theater and was made possible by a community crowdfunding campaign with over seventy-five local donors and sponsorships by more than thirty local businesses. The short’s centerpiece gallery scene was made in collaboration with fourteen local painters, illustrators, photographers, sculptors, furniture makers and puppet designers.

This special premiere event will feature a moderated post-show Q&A with select cast and crew. All attendees will also receive commemorative postcards designed by Film School’s Shea Satterlee. Proceeds of ticket sales will go directly to the film’s festival submission and distribution fund. Welcome to the art life.
