In the 16th century, a young seminary student is convicted of seducing a girl, and flees from the Papal States into the Italian countryside. There he takes up an apprenticeship with a defrocked priest. But when he realizes that the former priest was excommunicated for sorcery and the dark arts, his nightmare is only just beginning.
