Classroom 4 follows a course taught inside a prison, involving students from a nearby college and incarcerated students, about the history of crime and punishment in the US. The Inside-Out Prison Exchange class consists of both undergraduates from Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon and incarcerated students at the Columbia River Correctional Institution (CRCI) who learn together as peers. The course studies concepts such as masculinity, prison abolition and mercy.
Dr. Reiko Hillyer, who teaches the course documented in the film, will host a post-screening Q&A moderated by author Lois Leveen.
Free Society People’s Library will be on hand providing literature to the community.
