Peter is a handsome and bitter young man carrying on a relationship with an older actress, Marusa. Over drinks and cigarettes, he cruelly strikes at her insecurities. They are both about to be swallowed by their frustrations and insecurities, and a brighter future seems to be a dimmer hope every day. A DANCE IN THE RAIN is a jazzy existential masterpiece by Slovenian director Bostjan Hladnik, who returned from Paris after working with Claude Chabrol, and for the first time introduced the French New Wave to Yugoslavia. The stunning photography and brooding atmosphere were also a precursor and omen of the Black Wave cinema to come.
