Ballot Measure 9 Documentary

September 8, 2022 @ 7:00 PM 9:00 PM

$5 available online. Optional donation to Gay and Lesbian Archives of the Pacific Northwest appreciated.

Sundance winner BALLOT MEASURE 9 is the chilling true story of the unprecedented violence unleashed by an anti-gay campaign, when activists slept with guns under their beds and had full-time police protection.

As part of a series of events: “Lessons of Ballot Measure 9: 30 Years Later” the Gay and Lesbian Archives of the Pacific Northwest (GLAPN) presents: “Ballot Measure 9” the critical 1995 exposé of the 1992 battle across the state to preserve the rights and dignity of Oregon’s LGBTQIA+ community. Please join us for this screening followed by a facilitated conversation/Q&A with activists who helped forge this momentous victory.

The history and experience of defeating Ballot Measure 9 holds crucial lessons for us all today as our current rights are under assault by the conservative right. Come see this film and join us for additional Lessons of Ballot Measure 9 programming so that we can build a stronger and safer community for all.

Winner of jury and audience awards internationally, including the Sundance Film Festival Audience Award, and frequently named one of the best films of the year, “this just might be the next training manual on how to rescue the soul of America.” -B. Ruby Rich
