PRINCESS IRON FAN (1941) (Church of Film)

While the Monkey King and his companions continue their legendary Journey to the West, they come across an impassable stretch of exploding volcanoes. To continue, they must trick the nearby demoness Princess Iron Fan into giving up her magical fan to blow the fires back.

PRINCESS IRON FAN is China’s first animated feature, as well as Asia’s first. Taking three years to complete in the midst of war, it was a colossal success (even in Japan) and remains one of the great prides of Chinese cinema.
