Pressure (Church of Film)

Tony is an ordinary boy, the son of immigrants of the UK’s Windrush generation. Torn between his parents, who insist that with hard work and trying hard to fit in he will succeed, and his brother, an organizer and anti-racist activist, he tries to carve his own way.

When the political reality of systemic racism in white London continually interferes however, his disillusionment leads him to his own kind of engagement, and his own conclusions. PRESSURE was the masterful directorial debut of Horace Ové, and the first feature film by a Black director in the UK, but its frank scenes of police brutality led to its being banned for several years.
