Local Double Feature: Houndsville and The Foreground

Tuesday, September 24 @ 7:00 PM 9:00 PM

$10

A showcase of two new local films!

HOUNDSVILLE (2024) screens first—an absurdist parable of debauchery, hard-boiled crime and good old fashioned puppy lovin’. Alcoholic has-been dog detective Klaus Haund and his will-they-won’t-they sweetheart Maus Haund traverse the surrealist psychedelia of the once great City of Hounds in a fevered quest to retrieve huckleberry antidote and dismantle an autocratic raccoon regime.

Filmed entirely on Super 8 and complete with a glittering display of papier-mâché costumage and live musical performances. Created by Amanda Berlind and Austin Stolz.

Followed by THE FOREGROUND (2024)—following the deterioration of a struggling film project, its unmoored director, Ty, embarks on a trip to visit old acquaintances and get a change of scenery. Teetering between meditation and voyeurism, the film closely follows Ty as he explores the mundane moments between creative death and rebirth. Lingering shots of daily rituals interspersed with ever-changing scenery and companions create a dreamlike quality that bends time as well as genre. Dramatic, fantastical, stark, and experimental, director Ty Jacob’s premiere feature film is a worthy addition to the slow cinema canon exploring creativity’s endless cycle of heartbreak and repair.
