Gundermann

Based on a true story, director Andreas Dresen’s portrait of the contradictory life of the digger driver Gerhard Gundermann, who made a name for himself as a singer-songwriter in former East Germany, and his struggles with life as a coal miner and his dealings with the secret police (STASI) of the GDR, tragically dying at only 43 in 1998.
