This event is not a debate between candidates, it is a forum for candidates to respond to questions regarding policy, etc. as presented by the moderators. During the roughly one hour segment, moderators will ask 6-8 questions of the candidates. Questions will be written by the moderators and selected from community members before and during the event.
If you have a question that you would like to submit for consideration, please fill out this form.
Audience members will not ask candidates questions directly. Journalists and media are invited to cover the event, but will not be asking questions during the forum itself.
Candidates have been asked to provide short, concise answers in order to better facilitate on-site ASL interpretation. Candidates’ microphones can be muted at the discretion of the moderators.
Unlike other candidate forums, this event does not claim to be “politically neutral,” though it is candidate neutral. Questions will be poised from a progressive/left-wing angle and cover a wide range of topics. Sexism, racism, homophobia and other bigoted views will not be tolerated. Any candidates or audience members espousing such views will immediately be removed from the event.
The theater does not have a parking lot and Clinton St. is closed to vehicular traffic between SE 26th and 25th. The theater has two, single-stall bathrooms. Dots Cafe, across the street, has additional bathrooms with larger space that will be available for use during the event. There are two wheelchair accessible and companion seats inside the auditorium. Further accessibility questions can be sent to: [email protected]
Please enter an email address for a receipt when checking out in Square so that you can show theater staff your RSVP on your mobile device (or print out) on the night of the forum.
