The soundtrack has its own history. The celebrated band Broadcast had started work on it when Trish Keenan died complications from pneumonia after contracting H1N1 while on tour; she was only 42. After her death, a friend posted a tweet to a playlist of music she had made called “Mind Bending Motorway Mix.” You can still find copies out there on the internet. It’s worth searching out if you’re into trippy pop music.
Surviving member James Cargill took Keenan’s recordings for the score and pieced together what NPR calls, “a gorgeous tapestry of sound that’s as serene as it is spooky.”
