ANDRIESH (1954) (Church of Film)

The hero Voinovan entrusts his magic flute to the young shepherd Andriesh— but its music is odious to the wicked sorcerer Black Hurricane, who steals his flock and burns down the village. It’s up to Andriesh to stop him. Along the way, he sees the devastation the Black Hurricane has unleashed, encounters strange dangers, and makes some helpful new friends.

ANDRIESH was the film debut of the esteemed Armenian master Sergei Paradjanov, a gorgeous fairy tale based on a Moldovan poem and brimming with folk motifs.
