Public Domain Xinema presents...Phantom of the Opera w/ live music

We're making another go at the super-legendary this month at Public Domain Xinema; join us for the 1925 silent classic, The Phantom of the Opera, starring the immortal Lon Chaney, with Mary Philbin, and a live musical score provided in the theater by the incomparable team of Justin Schepige and Kevin Van Walk.

Chaney plays the titular Phantom, an artist of unmatched skill- and depravity. Watch him woo, watch him kill, experience the legendary film in a completely new way, with original music from a pair of amazing musicians.

As always, this PDX screening is donation based, meaning you don't have to bring a dime to experience this magic. That said, we could really use your donations, whether it's a dime or a dollar, to help keep the historic Clinton Street Theater open and to pay our wonderful musicians who are joining us from Corvallis. Once you hear them play, you'll want to hurl wads of cash at them... and that's before they start dancing.

This show also includes newsreels, cartoons and other ephemera from 1925 before the feature, which will also be accompanied by the musicians, as well as an acapella introduction by series curator Ygal Kaufman.
