Anna Tivel - "The Question"
Director:
Sarah Whelden & Robin Vada
Country:
United States
Year:
2019

A journey into the mind of a trans woman as she struggles to embrace her inner self: Masculine-presenting Quinn closes her eyes and lets her guard down.

Inside her mind is a woman, a Dancer – graceful, spirited, confident – the embodiment of Quinn’s inner self. A cold concrete wall separates them. As Quinn begins a wordless dialogue with The Dancer, she realizes that what she wants more than anything in the world is something that she already is.

IntheFog
In the Fog/神隠し (Kamikakushi)
Director:
Matthew Takata Shepherd & Naomi Takata Shepherd
Country:
United States
Year:
2019

An ode to the struggle and beauty of the places between. In the Fog (Kamikakushi) is a psychedelic experimental music video that explores themes of duality, identity, and divinity.

The ordinary life meets the spirit world, as nightmares and dreams intersect: Vioulet and Kei dance with life and death. Conflicting realities coexist, each challenging and forming the other.

A mixed queer person, Vioulet is both trapped and freed by the infinite possibilities of what it means to be. Vioulet falls through time and space as they struggle with the dark presence of Kei. Shadows of the past, ghosts of the future, nightmares and daydreams, haunt and bless Vioulet and Kei in this exploration of duality, divinity, and identity.
