MONOGAMISH: A quest to understand SEX, LOVE & MARRIAGE in the 21st Century

MONOGAMISH: A quest to understand SEX, LOVE & MARRIAGE in the 21st Century

Recovering from a very public divorce, independent filmmaker and Italian Prince Tao Ruspoli takes to the road to talk to his relatives, advice columnists, psychologists, historians, anthropologists, artists, philosophers, sex workers, sex therapists, and ordinary couples about love, sex & monogamy in our culture. What he discovers about his very unconventional family, and about the history and psychology of love and marriage leads him to question the ideal of monogamy, and the traditional family values that go with it.

Is it cheating if we agree on it first?

Monogamish is a film about relationships, love, sex, desire, intimacy, passion, family.... It explores why people get together in the first place, and why it can be so difficult to stay that way. Have you ever considered how this whole thing got started? Who decided humans were supposed to live in couples their entire lives? Does it come from nature?

Filmmaker Tao Ruspoli was faced with these very questions as he tried to get through a very painful (and public) divorce. So he took to the road for over 3 years to talk with relationship experts, best-selling authors, relatives, historians, artists, sex workers, philosophers and ordinary people, about love, sex and marriage, throughout history and into the 21st century. What he learned was so unexpected and so enlightening that he had to put it into a film.

Featuring author, sex advice columnist and LGBT activist Dan Savage, author Christopher Ryan, psychotherapist Esther Perel and more.
