SUMMARY:Earth's Greatest Enemy
DESCRIPTION:In her new documentary\, journalist Abby Martin that uncovers a shocking blind spot in the climate conversation: the U.S. military. Exempt from international climate agreements and rarely scrutinized in mainstream reporting\, the Pentagon is revealed here as the world’s single largest institutional polluter—spewing carbon\, contaminating water\, and scarring landscapes across the globe. Combining investigative journalism\, striking visuals\, and stories from impacted communities\, the film challenges audiences to rethink the hidden costs of war and its planetary consequences. Provocative\, urgent\, and eye-opening\, this is a documentary that will change how you see both conflict and environmentalism.

SUMMARY:The Tragedy of Man
DESCRIPTION:More than 20 years in the making\, the sprawling\, kaleidoscopic masterwork from iconic Hungarian animator Marcell Jankovics (Son of the White Mare) is a seemingly-endless animated scroll of gorgon-like demons\, barbarian warriors\, bejeweled pharaohs\, knights and martyrs and prophets all bleeding together into one brutal age passing like pages in a flipbook.  \n\n\n\nBroken into many chapters\, which were produced one at a time as Jankovics could cobble together funding\, each section has a different visual style\, it is a mind-blowing tapestry of world art\, cultures\, symbols and rituals that demands to be seen on the big screen. \n\n\n\n \n Director: Marcell Jankovics\n Year: 2011\n Country: Hungary\n Runtime: 160 minutes

SUMMARY:The Bloody Lady
DESCRIPTION:Lady Elisabeth Báthory lives a charmed life in a resplendent Romanesque castle\, surrounded by Disney-esque wildlife and a colorful cast of obliging servants. Taking ill one day while traveling through the forest\, she’s nursed back to health by a handsome woodsman\, and in gratitude gifts him with her own heart. But upon returning home\, Lady Báthory’s sunny disposition quickly turns murderous and vampiric once she discovers the secret to heart-less eternal youth lies in draining the blood of all the young women and men in her castle. \n\n\n\nWidely considered one of Slovak animation’s crown jewels\, director Viktor Kubal’s film is an improbable and bewitching fusion of gothic horror and classic children’s animation\, retelling the infamous Čachtická castle and Báthory folk tale which is often cited as the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s Dracula.  \n\n\n\nRecently treated to haunting live score by celebrated indie musician claire rousay\, this underseen gem is a new cult classic in the making.  \n\n\n\nRestoration courtesy of the Slovak Film Institute. \n\n\n\n \n Director: Viktor Kubal\n Year: 1980\n Country: Czechoslovakia\n Runtime: 77 minutes
