SUMMARY:LITTLE MERMAID (1976) (Church of Film)
DESCRIPTION:A beautiful mermaid princess rescues a human prince from a shipwreck and falls in love. To see her prince again\, she sacrifices her voice and leaves her utopian undersea world in order to walk among the troubled world of mankind. But this isn’t Disney. It’s a story of love\, silence\, pain\, and ultimately tragic sacrifice. \n\n\n\nDesigned by the brilliant Esther Krumbachova (Daisies)\, with a score by Lubos Fiser (Valerie & Her Week of Wonders)\, and directed by Czech film elder statesman Karel Kachyna (The Ear)\, THE LITTLE MERMAID is one of the unquestioned masterworks of post-New Wave Czechoslovakian cinema.
