SUMMARY:NIGHT VOICES (1995) Episode 5 (Church of Film)
DESCRIPTION:Passes available for all three screening dates! \n\n\n\n\nThe mutilated body of a student is found beneath Rome’s oldest bridge\, the Ponte Sublicio. Detective Morlisi is put on the case\, which at first seems to be connected to organized crime. Soon\, however\, he is drawn deep into a conspiracy that involves ancient rituals and modern cults\, the phantoms of an obscure history\, and the secrets of existence beyond death. NIGHT VOICES is a 5 part miniseries\, considered the lost masterwork of Pupi Avati\, Italy’s master of metaphysical horror.  \n\n\n\nKnown by fans as the Italian Twin Peaks\, it aired in 1995 on Italian public television\, and then disappeared for nearly two decades after. When it returned\, it was heavily censored in a very unusual way. We will be showing the original\, uncut full 5 episodes\, translated and subtitled for the first time ever in English by Church of Film!

SUMMARY:THE HAUNTED WORLD OF GEORGE MOORSE (Church of Film)
DESCRIPTION:American Beat Poet George Moorse relocated to Berlin in the 1960s\, and established himself as a wunderkind filmmaker of the German New Cinema. Engaged by the Literarisches Colloquium Berlin to make “optical literature\,” he committed some of his favorite literary fascinations of horror and the occult onto experimental TV programming. This program presents VAMPIRA\, his eerie\, cultish Krautrock-flavored docudrama on the history and character of vampires\, full of “strange and bizarre images” (and an early ambient score by Tangerine Dream!). Also included will be THE SHADOW OUT OF TIME\, his photoplay based on the H.P. Lovecraft tale that was heavily influenced by Chris Marker’s classic La Jetée.

SUMMARY:THE BIRTH OF HORROR: A Scary Collection of Early Film Horror (Church of Film)
DESCRIPTION:A very special presentation! Born out of novelties\, toys\, and camera tricks\, early filmmakers formulated the first horror cinema in the nickelodeons. THE BIRTH OF HORROR presents a global survey of monsters\, goblins and things that go bump in the night\, from the first screen conception of Frankenstein\, to early home invasions and escaped psychos! These films are presented with atmospheric original soundtracks by Seattle’s Hexafoils—meticulously constructed horrorscapes crafted from synthesizers and foley design. A project years in the making!
