Arthouse Convergence Days 2 & 3
I wanted to write yesterday, but I thought my head would explode. Strategic planning, anyone? The main thing I came away with was the need to write down a vision. I realized that I can't do that without the help of the entire Clinton Street Theater community. I can have hopes and dreams and desires for the theater, but MY vision can't become a reality if YOU are not behind it. I need input from each and every one of you. Maybe we should have a Clinton Street Theater gathering just to talk about how we can truly become the best indie theater in Portland, and I'm not just talking about film. Live events--music, theater, dance--they build community and enrich our lives, too.
I've had workshops on Midnight Movies, getting young people into the theater, crowdsourcing, wearing all the hats, starting our own festival, and I'm not done yet.
I gave my own panel presentation this afternoon, and WOW!! Folks are amazed by all that we're doing in our little corner of the world. You all know that it doesn't just happen by me in a vacuum. We've got wonderful community partners, support of the film lovers in the neighborhood, Filmed by Bike, Zompire, and of course Rocky Horror Picture Show fanatics--the list goes on and on. And, of course, I would be a completely insane person without the continued help and love and willingness to show up by my team of volunteers. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
One more day and then I'll be home. Don't forget GOD LOVES UGANDA starts on Friday. See you soon.
